Free Energy - All I Know
I dunno whether its the fact that its really nice outside today or what but I am really digging this band. The kind of bubblegum garage rock that was perfected by Thin Lizzy and Cheap Trick in the 70s and then ressurected by Weezer in the 90s is now being re-resurrected by Free Energy. The lack of even a whiff of irony makes this band interesting but also unfortunately allows for a couple of ultra cornball lyrical moments. If yr the kind of person that turns their nose up to this because it sounds a little like something that would have been on Q101 in 1996 (what up Chicago!?) then yr absolutely right. But if yr the kind of person that doesn’t take that kinda shit so seriously, you’ll enjoy humming along with this pop song. Its charming as fuck.
