Lcd Soundsytem - I Can Change

Returning after the classic Sound of Silver must be a bitch. That album was not only a solid monolith of great electronic pop from start to finish, but it included one of the defining singles of our generation: All my Friends. From listening to the new album, This is Happening, apparently their answer is to continue to do what they do best without fucking with the formula too much. And that is A-OK with me.

This track has Gary Numan written all over it. Those familiar squiggly analog synths, cold drum machines, and shuffling rhythms are all there, but they manage to pull it off so convincingly that its a thing of beauty. James Murphy’s killer vocals and the deadpan humor of the lyrics just add the icing on the cake.

(P.S Drunk Girls is better but you guys have probably already heard that one.)
